Veritas (College & Young Adult)

Veritas [Truth]
Veritas is a group of young adults that lives to glorify the name of God and His son Jesus.  We value dedication to a rooted life of faith.  We encourage and strive for Christ-centered lives, sacrificial relationships, devotion to creativity, and a commitment to purity.

Christ-centered lives:  Individually and corporately, we walk like Jesus did.  So in everything that we do, we reflect all that God is…in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity (I Tim. 4:12).

Sacrificial relationships:  We think it central to the gospel to maintain relationships with people, whom you love and for whom you are willing to give it all.  We believe that our relationships with one another are a direct reflection of our relationships with God.  So in every relationship, we strive to love as Christ loved.

Devotion to creativity:  Since we are designed to serve the Creator, we are also devoted to expressing love in His design…through creativity.  We believe that God inspires new thoughts, ideas, and paths, and so we will expend ourselves in service and love through creative means.

Commitment to purity:  We value individual and community wholeness, looking to one another for encouragement, accountability, and forgiveness.  We hold steadily to God’s will and believe purity to be a major piece in living God’s will.

Leadership:  Grant and Krissy Collins.  Grant and Krissy are newlyweds, having married at Evangel Temple on May 21, 2005.  They are committed to the growth of Veritas through the ministry of love that Jesus began so long ago.

Personal Bios:

Grant Collins was born in Rock Hill, SC, and raised in Anderson, SC.  He has lived in Columbus, GA, for five plus years.  During his family’s residence in Columbus, Grant attended Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL, graduating in 2004 with a degree in Communication and a minor in Bible.  Upon returning to Columbus, Grant was hired at Evangel Temple to work with the middle school group and doubled as an Administrative Assistant to Senior Pastor Richard Collins.  He has since begun to work with E.T.’s young adults ministry, Veritas.

Krissy Collins was born and raised in Phenix City, AL.  She grew up at Evangel Temple, where she met and married Grant.  Krissy received her Associate Degree in Biology from Central Alabama College and went on to attend West Georgia. In December of 2005, Krissy graduated from Troy University with a degree in Human Services.  She is currently working as an Administrative Assistant at Aflac.

Meeting Times/Places:

Veritas meets on Thursday nights at 7:00 p.m. in the Evangel Temple Youth Auditorium.
On the second Thursday of each month we meet at a designated home to enjoy each other’s fellowship, while we eat and devote ourselves in service to one another as an act of worship.
On the last Thursday of each month Veritas joins an inter-community gathering of young adults at Cascade Hills for a time of worship and celebration.

Cultoure (fall 2005):

This fall Veritas will begin Cultour:  a monthly meeting where we corporately view and discuss our culture as seen in the arts and in popular forms of media.
Cultoure will help followers of Christ to view forms of art and other cultural mediums through their view of supernatural, transcendent truth.  We seek to be in this world but not of it.
